When I'm not gardening (for myself or my customers) I craft!  By far, my favourite material is natural slate.  As slate is a mineral product it is totally inert and ecological.  Its extraction and production processes are simple, efficient and do not require any additional treatment. In fact, its production process is so simple there is no need for any artificial materials, furnaces or chemical products.  I think it's one of the most ecological and sustainable natural resources.
